Quiet, Low-Dust Rear Brake Upgrade for Acura RDX and Honda CR-V Daily Drivers
The PowerStop CRK206 Z17 Evolution Geomet Coated Brake Kit gives your Acura RDX or Honda CR-V a complete rear brake refresh in a single box. It pairs fully GEOMET 360 coated solid-surface rotors with PowerStop’s Z17 Evolution ceramic pads, stainless-steel hardware, and high-temperature brake lubricant. The result is quieter stops, dramatically less brake dust, and rotors that won’t surface-rust in your driveway. CRK206 installs directly onto OEM mounting points with no modifications required and is engineered to meet original equipment specifications.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the PowerStop CRK206 include?
The CRK206 kit includes two GEOMET 360 fully coated rear rotors, a full set of Z17 Evolution ceramic rear brake pads, stainless-steel installation hardware, abutment clips, and high-temperature ceramic brake lubricant. Everything needed for a complete rear brake replacement is in one box.
Does the CRK206 fit the 2010-2018 Acura RDX?
Yes. The PowerStop CRK206 is a direct-fit rear brake kit for all 2010-2018 Acura RDX trims, including the SH-AWD variant for 2010-2012.
Will the CRK206 fit all Honda CR-V trims from 2005 to 2016?
Yes, the CRK206 is compatible with the LX, EX, EX-L, SE, and Touring trims of the Honda CR-V from 2005 through 2016. See the fitment table for year-by-year trim coverage.
What is GEOMET 360 coating and why does it matter?
GEOMET 360 is a Genuine GEOMET corrosion inhibiting coating applied to the full surface of the rotor, including the hat and internal vanes, not just the face. It prevents the orange surface rust that appears on bare rotors after rain or overnight, without reducing braking performance or requiring a break-in period to wear through a coating layer.
Are the Z17 Evolution pads really low-dust?
Yes. PowerStop validates the Z17 Evolution’s low-dust formula through on-vehicle 3rd-party testing conducted in the United States. The ceramic compound produces significantly less dark brake dust than OEM pads, keeping wheel faces cleaner between washes.
Do PowerStop CRK206 rotors require drilling or slotting for street use?
No. The CRK206 rotors are solid-surface (non-drilled, non-slotted) and are manufactured to OEM specifications, making them ideal for daily driving on the Acura RDX and Honda CR-V. Drilled or slotted rotors are generally not recommended for daily-driven passenger SUVs.
Is there a bedding procedure required after installing CRK206?
A light bedding cycle is recommended for optimal pad transfer and performance. PowerStop’s standard bedding procedure involves a series of moderate stops from highway speed, allowing the pads to cool between each stop. No aggressive or emergency stops should be performed during the first 200 miles after installation.
Does this kit come with new calipers?
No. The CRK206 is a rotor and pad kit only. It does not include brake calipers. If your calipers are seized or leaking, they should be replaced separately before installing this kit.
Is the PowerStop CRK206 a front or rear kit?
CRK206 is a rear-only kit. For a front replacement kit on the same vehicles, use the corresponding PowerStop front part number. PowerStop also offers full front-and-rear combo kits if you need to refresh all four corners at once.
What warranty does PowerStop offer on the CRK206?
PowerStop covers the CRK206 under their limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty terms are fulfilled through PowerStop directly. Proof of purchase is required for any warranty claim.
Installation Instructions
- Loosen the rear wheel lug nuts slightly before raising the vehicle.
- Raise the vehicle safely on jack stands and remove the rear wheels.
- Remove the brake caliper mounting bolts and hang the caliper with a wire hook. Do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose.
- Compress the rear caliper piston fully using a caliper wind-back tool (rear pistons typically require rotating while pressing).
- Remove the caliper bracket and set aside.
- Slide the old rotor off the hub. If seized, use a hub puller or carefully strike the rotor hat with a rubber mallet.
- Clean the hub face with a wire brush and apply anti-seize to the hub flange.
- Slide the new CRK206 GEOMET coated rotor onto the hub and secure temporarily with a lug nut.
- Apply the included ceramic brake lubricant to the caliper bracket contact points. Do not apply lubricant to the rotor face or pad friction material.
- Install the new Z17 Evolution ceramic pads into the caliper bracket using the included stainless-steel hardware and abutment clips.
- Reinstall the caliper bracket and torque mounting bolts to OEM specification.
- Reinstall the caliper and torque slide pin bolts to OEM specification.
- Reinstall the wheel and torque lug nuts in a star pattern to OEM specification.
- Pump the brake pedal firmly several times until a firm pedal is felt before moving the vehicle.
- Perform a light bedding procedure: accelerate to 35 mph, apply moderate brake pressure to slow to 5 mph (do not stop completely). Repeat 5 times, allowing cooling between each run.
