Frequently Asked Questions

What is the HDGrandCherokee-355×32?

The HDGrandCherokee-355×32 is a Rotora HD Challenge front brake system built for the 2011-2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit, Trailhawk. It uses a 355x32mm 2 piece disc, ductile iron calipers, and HD graphite metallic pads to deliver more thermal capacity and stopping power than the factory front brakes.

What is the difference between the 355x32mm, 355x35mm, and 390x36mm HDGrandCherokee-355×32 disc options?

All three use the same 6 piston RG608 caliper platform. The 355x32mm HDGrandCherokee-355×32 disc is the standard thickness, the 355x35mm option adds extra thermal mass in the same diameter, and the 390x36mm option increases both diameter and thickness for maximum stopping power and heat capacity.

Will this front kit work with my stock master cylinder?

Yes. It is designed for full compatibility with the factory master cylinder, ABS, and traction control with no electronic bypass or modification required.

Should I choose slotted or drilled front discs?

Slotted discs resist thermal cracking better and suit regular hard use, while drilled discs offer strong wet weather bite and a more aggressive look. Caliper and pad hardware are identical between both options.

What wheel size is needed to clear the 355x32mm front disc?

Larger discs in this size range generally require larger diameter wheels with sufficient offset for caliper clearance. Confirm fitment against Rotora’s wheel clearance chart before ordering.

Can I pair this front kit with a different brand kit on the other axle?

This front system functions independently, but for balanced brake bias Rotora recommends pairing it with the matching HD Challenge system for the opposite axle on the Grand Cherokee.

What pads come installed with this kit?

The kit ships with HD graphite metallic pads sized for the front axle. Upgraded compounds are available from Rotora for track or extreme duty use beyond the included street pads.

Is a brake bed in procedure required after installing this system?

Yes. The new discs carry a zinc coating that must be worn off with light stops before pad material transfers evenly to the disc surface through a series of progressively harder stops.

Does the HDGrandCherokee-355×32 include a warranty?

Rotora HD Challenge systems are covered by Rotora’s manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Contact Rotora or your reseller for full terms.

Install Instructions

  1. Raise the vehicle, engage the parking brake, and remove both front wheels
  2. Loosen the hard brake line fitting at each front caliper and cap it to minimize fluid loss
  3. Remove the OEM caliper, bracket, and rotor assembly from each side
  4. Clean the hub face and install the new S45C caliper bracket using the original mounting bolts torqued to specification
  5. Mount the new 355x32mm disc assembly to the hub, confirming directional orientation for each side
  6. Insert brake pads into the caliper and install guide pins through both pad mounting ears
  7. Mount the caliper onto the bracket and torque caliper bolts to specification
  8. Install the directional stainless braided brake lines along the same path as the OEM hoses
  9. Bleed the brake system starting with the caliper farthest from the master cylinder
  10. Reinstall wheels torqued to factory spec and complete the full break in procedure before normal driving
