Frequently Asked Questions

What years and trims of the Cadillac Escalade ESV does the AWE3015-31222 fit?

The AWE3015-31222 is engineered for 2021 and newer Cadillac Escalade ESV models equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine. This covers Luxury, Premium Luxury, Premium Luxury Platinum, Sport, and Sport Platinum trim levels. This system is for the long-wheelbase ESV body only and is not interchangeable with the standard-wheelbase Escalade.

What does it mean that this system reuses OE tips?

The AWE3015-31222 pipe system terminates at the factory exhaust tip connection points, allowing you to reinstall your existing OEM tip housings. The result is a factory-looking rear end with no visible change to the tip appearance, while still gaining all the sound and flow benefits of the AWE 0FG catback. If you want new aftermarket tips, AWE offers the same ESV system with 5-inch chrome silver tips under AWE3015-42222 or diamond black tips under AWE3015-43222.

Does this system sound the same as the tipped versions?

Yes. The pipe routing, muffler, resonator, and 180 Technology drone-canceling section are identical across all AWE 0FG Escalade ESV variants. The only difference between this system and the tipped versions is the tail section that connects to the tip outlets. Sound character and volume are the same regardless of tip style.

What is AWE’s 180 Technology and why does it matter?

AWE’s patented 180 Technology uses a tuned resonator that cancels drone frequencies produced at highway cruise RPM ranges, typically around 1,500 to 2,000 RPM. The result is a system that sounds aggressive under acceleration and at idle but remains completely drone-free during long highway drives. AWE backs this with a no-drone guarantee on every 0FG system.

Will the AWE3015-31222 throw a check engine light?

No. This system is a cat-back configuration that connects after the factory catalytic converters, leaving the oxygen sensors and emissions control systems fully intact. AWE guarantees no check engine light on this product. The system is also 50-state emissions compliant, making it legal in all 50 states including California.

Why is the AWE3015-31222 priced lower than the tipped versions?

The lower price reflects the absence of aftermarket exhaust tips in the kit. All other components including the pipe, muffler, resonator, 180 Technology section, and hardware are identical to the tipped variants. This is the right choice for owners who want maximum performance value and are happy with the factory tip look.

How difficult is the installation and what tools are needed?

The AWE3015-31222 is a direct bolt-on replacement for the factory exhaust on the Escalade ESV with no cutting, welding, or fabrication required. Standard hand tools including a ratchet set and penetrating oil for stubborn factory hardware are all you need. Most experienced shops complete the install in two to three hours. AWE provides detailed instructions with the kit.

Does this exhaust system improve horsepower or torque?

AWE’s 0FG systems across the product line have shown modest dyno-proven gains from improved exhaust flow. While AWE has not published specific dyno figures for the Escalade application, the 3-inch straight-through catback design reduces backpressure compared to the restrictive factory system, which typically produces small but measurable gains in throttle response and power across the RPM range.

What is covered under AWE’s Lifetime Warranty?

AWE’s Lifetime Warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the original purchaser’s vehicle. It does not cover damage from improper installation, physical impact, or misuse. AWE also includes a Perfect Fitment Guarantee, meaning if the system does not fit as described on the correct vehicle, AWE will work to make it right. Contact AWE Tuning directly for warranty claims.

Installation Overview

  1. Safely raise and support the vehicle on a lift or secure jack stands before beginning work.
  2. Allow the factory exhaust to cool completely before handling any components.
  3. Spray all factory exhaust clamps and hangers with penetrating oil and allow to soak for 15 to 30 minutes.
  4. Disconnect the factory exhaust at the cat-back section, beginning at the rearmost catalytic converter flange.
  5. Remove the factory exhaust system from the vehicle, carefully preserving your OE tip housings for reinstallation.
  6. Test-fit the AWE 0FG system by hand, hanging it on the factory rubber isolators before tightening any hardware.
  7. Confirm proper clearance to the chassis, fuel tank, spare tire, and surrounding body panels along the full pipe run.
  8. Connect your factory OE tip housings to the AWE pipe outlets and tighten all hardware per AWE’s instructions.
  9. Start the vehicle and inspect for exhaust leaks at all connection points before lowering from the lift.
  10. Allow the system to heat cycle two to three times before checking all hardware for final torque.
